Each course will last three days and each student will be able to attend one of three full-length OTI courses. This year, we will offer a three-hour course on Federal Agency Recordkeeping under 29 CFR 1904 as a bonus course on Monday afternoon. Please note that you must complete either OTI Course #6000 or #6010 (both available online) prior to June 20, 2005as a prerequisite for the any of the three full-length courses. While the course schedule is still preliminary and subject to change, based on the survey results we intend to offer the following courses: OTI Courses: June 20, 2005: 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. Recordkeeping Training (3 hours) June 21, 22, and 23, 2005: 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. 1214 - Introduction to Industrial Hygiene for Safety Personnel (3 days) 2074 - Fire Protection and Life Safety (3 days) 2250 - Principles of Ergonomics Applied to Work-Related Musculoskeletal and Nerve Disorders (3 days) These courses will be free of charge for federal employees and you are responsible for your travel cost; OSHA will not pay for your travel expenses. 1214-Introduction to Industrial Hygiene for Safety Personnel This shortened version of #1210 introduces the student to the general concepts of industrial hygiene. Topics include the recognition of common health hazards such as air contaminants and noise, hazard evaluation through screening and sampling, and control methods for health hazards including ventilation and personal protective equipment. Course features laboratories in the calibration and use of sampling and monitoring instruments. Prerequisites: Federal Agency or Department personnel: Course #6000, #6010 or equivalent. 2075 (2074)-Fire Protection and Life Safety This shortened version of #2070 introduces the student to the recognition of potential fire hazards and emergency procedures. Topics include the chemistry of fire, types and effectiveness of extinguishing agents, means of egress, detection and alarm systems, fire brigades, fire prevention plans, and the Life Safety Code (NFPA 101). 29 CFR 1910, Subparts E and L, and referenced NFPA codes provide the basis for the course. Prerequisites: Federal Agency or Department personnel: Course #2005, #6000, or #6010. Blended Learning Prerequisite This is a Blended Learning Course. Students must complete a web-based training portion of the course before attending the resident training portion of the course. Each student will receive a letter with the URL, a login ID, and a temporary password for taking the web-based portion of the course. The student will have approximately six weeks to complete the web-based training portion of the course, which must be completed by noon on the Friday before the resident training portion is scheduled to start or the student will be dropped from the course. The student must complete both the web-based training and OTI resident training to receive credit for the course. The web-based portion of the course may require up to 15 hours seat time. 2250-Principles of Ergonomics Applied to Work-Related Musculoskeletal and Nerve Disorders This course covers the use of ergonomic principles to prevent musculoskeletal disorders. Topics include work physiology, anthropometry, musculoskeletal disorders, video display terminals, and risk factors such as vibration, temperature, material handling, repetition, and lifting and transfers in health care. Course emphasis is on industrial case studies covering analysis and design of work stations and equipment, laboratory sessions in manual lifting, and coverage of current OSHA compliance policies. Prerequisites: Federal Agency or Department personnel: Course #6000, #6010 or equivalent. HOTEL LIST

Please inform the hotel that you are attending the OSHA Training
Institute. Most hotels offer a courtesy vehicle to and from the
airport.The hotels listed below provide free daily transportation to and from the OSHA Training Institute. The Institute is located in Arlington Heights, just north of Chicago's O'Hare Airport. The Federal maximum lodging amount is $155.00 per day. In order to obtain the OSHA rate, you must contact the hotels directly using the number listed below, or through their website. Please make your reservations as early as possible. These rates are in effect until December 31, 2005.
