Speaker Notes: Long-term exposure to free silica dust may result in silicosis, a form of disabling, progressive, and sometimes fatal pulmonary fibrosis. It is believed that silicosis has claimed more lives than any of the other kinds of pneumoconiosis. It has been known by such common names as dust consumption, grinder's rot, stonemasons' disease, miners' asthma and potters' rot. |
