Continuing Education Units (CEUs)
CEUs are available to participants in OTI courses in accordance with the
administrative and program criteria guidelines established by the International
Association for Continuing Education and Training. These CEUs also meet the
criteria of the American Board for Occupational Health Nurses, Inc. (ABOHN) for
certification or recertification. Some states also accept these CEUs for
licensure of nurses. The number of CEUs for courses offered by the OTI is listed
with each course description. CEUs for abbreviated sessions offered at locations
other than the OTI are available. The number of CEUs available for these
abbreviated sessions can be obtained from the Registrar.
American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) Certification Maintenance (CM)
Points
Certification Maintenance Points are available to certified industrial
hygienists who complete courses awarded points under the ABIH maintenance of
certification program. See ABIH
CM Points for OTI Courses [PDF
- 21 KB] for the most recent information.
Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP) Continuance of Certification
(COC) Points
Continuation of Certification (COC) Points are available to certified safety professionals who
complete courses in which at least half of the content is devoted to safety, health, or
environmental topics. All OTI courses meet the BCSP criteria. The number of COC points available
from the BCSP is the same as the number of CEUs listed in the course description.
Requests for Records Policy
Although the OTI maintains records of CEUs, it does not maintain records of ABIH
CM points, BCSP continuance of certification points, or ABOHN contact hours. The
OTI does maintain a list of participants who have successfully completed courses
for which such points are available. An individual record is issued as an
official statement or transcript upon written request of the participant. The
request should be addressed to the Registrar and must include the name of the
student, course number, and dates of each course session for which a record is
desired.
