TRAINING ALLIANCE
BETWEEN
THE MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY
WORKPLACE SAFETY CONSULTATION
AND
THE MINNESOTA ELECTRICAL ASSOCIATION

Workplace Safety Consultation (WSC) and the Minnesota Electrical Association recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful Minnesota workplaces. WSC and the Minnesota Electrical Association have reached an understanding that we are going to work together to provide Minnesota Electrical Association members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to workplace hazards. WSC and the Minnesota Electrical Association recognize that WSC and partners are an integral part of the MNOSHA effort.

By entering into an Alliance with a party, WSC is not endorsing any of that party’s products or services; nor does WSC enter into an Alliance with the purpose of promoting a particular party’s products or services.

WSC and the Minnesota Electrical Association will work together to achieve the following common training and education goals:
  • Develop training and education programs on workplace safety and health issues targeted to help Minnesota employers to provide a safe and healthful workplace for their employees.

  • Deliver or arrange for the delivery of training and education courses.

  • Develop workplace safety and health curricula on selected workplace safety and health related topics.
WSC and the Minnesota Electrical Association will work together to achieve the following common outreach and communication goals:
  • Develop and disseminate information through print and electronic media, including electronic assistance tools and links from WSC’s and the Minnesota Electrical Association’s Web sites.

  • Speak, exhibit, or appear at WSC’s or Minnesota Electrical Association conferences, training sessions, or other events.

  • Train industry safety and health professionals in best practices or effective approaches, as jointly determined by WSC and the Minnesota Electrical Association.

  • Promote and encourage Minnesota Electrical Association members’ or worksites’ participation in WSC’s cooperative programs such as on-site Consultation, the Voluntary Protection Program (MNSTAR), and the Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP).

  • Share information on best practices, as jointly determined by WSC and the Minnesota Electrical Association, from Minnesota Electrical Association member worksites with others in the industry and publicize the results through outreach by the Minnesota Electrical Association and through WSC or Minnesota Electrical Association developed training programs and materials.

  • Encourage Minnesota Electrical Association members to build relationships with WSC to address health and safety issues.
WSC and the Minnesota Electrical Association will work together to achieve the following common goals related to promoting the national dialogue on workplace safety and health:
  • Raise others’ awareness of and demonstrate their own commitment to workplace safety and health whenever Minnesota Electrical Association leaders address groups.

  • Develop and disseminate case studies illustrating the business value of safety and health and publicize their results.

  • Convene or participate in forums, round table discussions, or stakeholder meetings on safety and health issues to help forge innovative solutions in the workplace or to provide input on safety and health issues.
Implementation

An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet at least quarterly to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance

This written understanding acknowledges the relationship set out above. It will remain in effect for two years from the date of the last signature: Either signatory may terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written notice. This understanding may be modified at any time with the concurrence of both signatories.
