Alliance Background
Date Signed
Agreement was originally signed on March 11, 2008 included only the St. Louis
Area Office and Operation Excel/YouthBuild. On April 21, 2008 the agreement was
signed to expand the alliance to include all of Missouri’s YouthBuild
Organizations and the Kansas City Area Office.
Alliance Overview
The Alliance focuses on construction safety education and training, a goal central to OSHA’s and Operation Excel/Youth Build’s missions.

Activities and Products
Evaluation Period
13 Months - March 2008 – April 2009
Alliance Activity
- Training and Education - Conducted 8 sessions covering approximately 64
hours of construction training for approximately 240 students in the St. Louis
Chapter.
- Outreach and Communication - Influenced safe work activity through visit
of YouthBuild jobsite and radio interview reference safe youth work. Speeches
and appearances at YouthBuild graduations.
- Promoting the National Dialogue on Safety and Health - Accomplished
through Training and Education, as well as Outreach and Communication goals.
Alliance Products
No Alliance products were developed during this evaluation period.
- Results
- The construction training provided helped underprivileged individuals secure
safe work environments.

Upcoming Milestones/Successes
Through the Alliance, the parties will continue construction safety training,
especially in light of stimulus spending. Additionally, emphasis will be placed
on expanding activities with the Kansas City Area Office and the other two
Missouri YouthBuild Chapters.
