AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING AN ALLIANCE
BETWEEN
THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
AND
THE NEBRASKA SAFETY COUNCIL
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and The Nebraska
Safety Council recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and
more healthful American workplaces. OSHA and The Nebraska Safety Council therefore agree to form an
Alliance to use their collective expertise to help foster a culture of prevention while sharing best
practices and technical knowledge.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and The Nebraska Safety Council agree to
establish an Alliance to promote safe and healthful working conditions for all of Nebraska's
workforce by:
- Promoting and educating Nebraska employers about the value added to business by voluntarily
implementing an effective safety and health management system.
OSHA and the Nebraska Safety Council will work together to achieve the
following training and education goals:
- Develop and provide training and education programs based on the elements of an effective
safety and heath management system to both members and non-members of the Council.
- Develop and provide training and education on the benefits of participation in OSHA's
Voluntary Protection Program to both members and non-members of the Council.
OSHA and The Nebraska Safety Council will also work together to achieve the
following outreach and communication goals:
- Develop and disseminate information relative to safety and health management systems at
conferences, events, or through print and electronic media, including links from OSHA's and
the Council's Web sites.
- Conduct speeches, exhibit, or appear at conferences, local meetings, or other events such
as The Nebraska Safety Council Conference, Panhandle Safety Conference, and the Safety Breakfast
Series.
- Promote participation in OSHA's premier cooperative program, the Voluntary Protection Program.
An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will
meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and
responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet at least quarterly to track activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance. Teman members will include representatives of OSHA's Omaha Area Office and The Nebraska Safety Council.
This agreement will remain in effect for two years from the date of signing. Either signatory
may terminate the agreement for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written notice.
This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of both signatories.
