The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the International Association of Sheet Metal Workers, Local #2 (SMW #2) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful workplaces. OSHA and the SMW #2 hereby form an Alliance to provide SMW #2 members, utilizing employers and others in the construction industry with information, guidance and access to training resources that will help them to increase employees’ awareness of safety and health issues particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to electrical, fall, struck-by, and crushed-by hazards. OSHA and the SMW #2 will work together to achieve the following training and education goal:
An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, the implementation team will meet at least quarterly to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance. Team members will include representatives of OSHA’s Kansas City Area Office, the SMACNA Safety Director, and member(s) of SMW #2. This agreement will remain in effect for two years from the date of signing. Any signatory may terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written notice. This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of all signatories.
