- Overview
OSHA and HBR hereby form an Alliance to provide HBR members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to crane related incidents in the petrochemical, construction and refining industries.

- Implementation Team Metings:
- The Houston South Area Office’s (HSAO) Compliance Assistance Specialists (CAS) attended the monthly Occupational Safety Committee meetings and additional alliance meetings as needed. HBR has the following committees: Operating, Commercial Issues, Contractor Workforce Development, Crane & Rigging, Operation & Maintenance, Project Management, and Safety, Health & Environmental Committee.
- Events and Products
- 24th Annual HBR Contractor Safety Excellence Awards Ceremony at Galveston Convention Center/San Luis Hotel with approximately 800 guests in attendance. A summary of the Safety Award Excellence ceremony: 118 nominations, 87 companies nominated, 10 categories, 61 nominees, 34 companies chosen for field audits, 96% of nominees had no recordables at the site nominated, site average recordable rate was 0.08, company recordable rate: 0.43 represented about 270 million man hours.
- The Safety Excellence Awards Winners Best Practices Seminar held at HASC with approximately 100 people in attendance.
- Facilitated the 23rd Annual HBR Contractor Safety Excellence Award where 60 contractors were present.
- Training and Education
- Facilitated 64 PSM audits of contractor by a third part auditor of HBR.
- Hosted four Planner / Scheduler seminars: 60 attendees
- Hosted the HBR Crane & Rigging standard breakfast: 200 with five presenters: presentation are on the website: http://www.houbrt.com/2005/CraneRiggingCommittee.htm
- Outreach and Communication
- Mr. Oswald and members of the sub-committees are members of National organizations and have attended Regional and National conferences.
- Co-hosted the 8 Best-in-Practice winners for the 2010 Contractor Safety Excellence Awards Process
- Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health
- HBR was awarded the national Users Roundtable (CURT) organization at the national conference in Orlando, Florida.
