Overview
OSHA, Georgia Tech, and GNHA hereby form an Alliance to provide GNHA’s members and others with
information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect nursing home
employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to musculoskeletal
disorders (MSD), bloodborne pathogens, falls, workplace violence and other hazards.
II. Implementation Team Membership and Contributors:
Representatives from OSHA and Georgia Health Care Association conducted all required quarterly
meeting by teleconferencing, formal meetings and training sessions on the following dates:
GHCA Annual Conference 01/18 – 19/2006
Recordkeeping and BBP/Needlestick Training Classes 03/29/06
Safety and Health Training Seminar 11/07/06
Evaluation Period:
September 28, 2005, through December 21, 2006

Training and Education
Events
- OSHA participated in the Recordkeeping, Blood borne Pathogen and Needlestick Training Seminar
on March 29, 2006, conducted by the OSHA Atlanta-East Area Office
- Georgia Tech Onsite Consultation Program conducted 2 initial hazard surveys of nursing home
facilities during this period
- An 8-hour Safety and Health Training Seminar was conducted in Tifton, Georgia, for employers in
the nursing home industry on November 7, 2006, by the OSHA Atlanta-East and Savannah Area Offices,
as well as Georgia Tech Onsite Consultation Program

Events
- Representative from the Georgia Tech Onsite Consultation Program, as well as the Atlanta-East,
West and Savannah Area Offices of OSHA participated, in the GNHA's Winter Conference, January 18
through 19, 2006, in Atlanta, Georgia
- Two of the participating employers was submitted for exemption deferral (pre-SHARP)
consideration by Georgia Tech
