    Alliance Overview

    The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Gold Coast Chapter of The American Society of Safety Engineers (Gold Coast - ASSE) and The School Board of Palm Beach County (School Board) agreed to establish an Alliance developed to help protect the health and safety of teachers and students, in reducing and preventing youth workers exposure to hazards in the workplace and industry training environments within the targeted school system.

    Alliance participants include representatives from the Fort Lauderdale OSHA Area Office the Gold Coast Chapter of The American Society of Safety Engineers (Gold Coast - ASSE) and The School Board of Palm Beach County School Board.

    Events

    • On April 9, 2009, OSHA and the ASSE participated in two OSHA 10 course, for students at Indian Ridge High School - Construction Academy. Course highlights included the following:

      • “Introduction to OSHA” presentations

      • “Employee Rights”

      • “Employer Rights and Responsibilities

      • Hazard Recognition Training

    1. The alliance with the Palm Beach School Board has provided the 10 hour OSHA construction class to over 80 students.

  6. Upcoming Milestones for FY 2010

    • Continue to work with ASSE to promote occupational safety and health in the Construction Academy at Indian Ridge High School

    • Continue to work with ASSE promote safety and health for other programs in the Palm Beach School System
