    Alliance Overview

    The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Construction Association of South Florida (CASF) agreed to establish an Alliance to promote safe and healthful working conditions for employees in the construction industry, particularly hard-to-reach and youth workers.

     
  2. Implementation Team Members

    Meetings – November 29, 2007, met with area director and safety committee to discuss alliance and directions; March 27, 2008, discussed OSHA’s participation in Constructor Safety Conference; and July17, 2008, telephone conference to discuss ideas on ways to impact the industry (crane safety)

    August 17, 2007 through February 28, 2009

    • On January 26, 2008, the Alliance members participated in the AGC Safety Expo.
    • On April 11, 2008, the Alliance members participated in a Construction Safety Conference in South Florida.
    • Additional training and education activities conducted during this period by members focused on the following:
      • Training on confined spaces
      • Hurricane Preparedness Training

    • CASF members were registered for the OSHA Region IV newsletter
    • Alliance members assisted in the distributed of safety and health outreach material developed by OSHA Region IV, such as the following:
      • Falls CDs
      • Struck-By CDs
      • Tool Box Review Booklet
      • Roofing /Carpentry self-inspection checklists

    Promoting the National Dialogue

    Events
     
    • In an attempt to promoting the national dialogue on safety and health OSHA has written articles for the CASF’s newsletter
    • During this period the CASF also joined the Florida Crane Safety Alliance, which was signed and implemented on February 12, 2009
