And

Alabama Power |
The Alabama Power Company (Alabama Power) joins with the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA), Alabama – Association General Contractors of America (AlabamaAGC), Alabama
Road Builders Association (ARBA), Safe State of Alabama, Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT),
The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), 3M Corporation (3M), Lamar Outdoor Advertising (Lamar)
and the Auburn University - Alabama Technology Transfer Center (Alabama T-2 Center) in recognizing
the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to advance safety and more healthful American
workplaces. Alabama Power therefore agrees to join the OSHA, AlabamaAGC, ARBA, Safe State, ALDOT,
FHWA, 3M, Lamar and the Alabama T-2 Center Alliance to use their collective expertise to help
protect employees’ health and safety, particularly promoting the value of safety and health to
alliance members and others in the area of work zone safety and the prevention of “Struck By”
hazards. Alabama Power agrees to all of the provisions of the original Alliance signed on April 16,
2003, and renewed by OSHA, AlabamaAGC, ARBA, Safe State, ALDOT, FHWA, 3M, Lamar and the Alabama T-2
Center on February 3, 2005. In amending this agreement all participants recognize that OSHA’s State
Plan and Consultation project partners are an integral part of the OSHA national effort.
OSHA’s Alliances provide parties an opportunity to participate in a voluntary cooperative
relationship with OSHA for purposes such as training and education, outreach and communication and
promoting a national dialogue on workplace safety and health. These Alliances have proved to be
valuable tools for both OSHA and its Alliance participants. By entering into an Alliance with a
party, OSHA is not endorsing any of that party’s products or services; nor does the Agency enter
into an Alliance with the purpose of promoting a particular party’s products or services.
An implementation team made up of representatives from the participating organizations will meet to
develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities
of the participants. In addition, they will meet at least three times per year to track and share
information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance. OSHA will encourage
State Plan States’ and OSHA Consultation Projects’ participation on the team.
