I. Alliance Background: OSHA and AGC of Mississippi hereby form an Alliance to provide Associated General Contractors of Mississippi (AGC-MS) members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to struck-by hazards, as well as other prevalent hazards in the construction industry such as falls, electrical, crush-by and caught-in hazards. Emphasis will also be placed on effectively communicating these issues to hard-to-reach groups, such as non-English speaking workers. Date Signed: July 24, 2004 Overview: This alliance was formed between the participating agency and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) with the purpose of promoting safe and healthful working conditions for construction industry trades through training, education, outreach, and communication to reduce back injuries, hand injuries, and lacerations. Implementation Team Membership: Representatives from OSHA, Associated General Contractors of Mississippi (AGC-MS) Contributors: Same as above. Evaluation Period: July 23, 2005 – September 8, 2006 II. Implementation Team Meetings: Meetings held quarterly, as well as 30-hour Construction Safety Class 2/7/06, and 30-hour Construction Safety Class - 03/02/06 III. Events and Products Training and Education Event Hispanic OSHA 10 Hour Construction Classes Continued usage of web based PowerSafe T & D Web Training Training program with Baton Rouge Safety Council Trenching and excavation competent person training 10 and 30 Hour OSHA Construction Classes Scaffolding competent person training Powered industrial truck operator training Confined space training 726 employees have been certified in First Aid and CPR Product None Outreach and Communication Event Management & Superintendent’s Retreat Fall Protection awareness Classes Wire rope inspection and usage, and rigging seminar In addition over 200 job site visits were completed to AGC-MS insured employers.
