I. Alliance Background
Date Signed
January 19, 2004 and the agreement was renewed on March 9, 2006.
Overview
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Associated Builders and
Contractors, Inc. (ABC) agreed to establish an Alliance to promote safe and healthful working
conditions for employees in the construction industry, particularly hard-to-reach and youth workers.
II. Implementation Team and Contributors:
OSHA and ABC conducted all required meetings by both teleconferencing and formal personal meetings.
These meetings were conducted as scheduled on – March 9, 2006; June 14, 2006; October 19, 2006; and
January 10, 2007.
Evaluation Period:
January 19, 2006, through January 19, 2007
III. Events and Products
Training and Education FY 2006
Significant achievements in the area of training and education during this report period included
the accomplishments:
- Area Director participated in OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses conducted in Spanish; CAS
participated in courses offered in English
- 31 OSHA-10 and 30 hour courses conducted
- 48 safety courses provide on fall protection, scaffolding, trenching, forklift, ladder and
confined spaces
- Four CSHO’s attended OSHA -10 and 30 hour classes
- The ABC Partnered with Georgia Tech and presented the OSHA-500 and 502 courses
Outreach and Communication FY 2006
- Assisted in the distributed of safety and health outreach material developed by OSHA Region IV,
such as the Electrical, Falls, and Struck-By CDs, as well as the Tool Box Review Booklet
- ABC’s Florida East Coast Chapter members were registered for the OSHA Region IV newsletter
Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health FY 2006
- A success story of this Alliance was written and placed on the OSHA Alliance web page under
Region IV Success Stories.
