Overview
OSHA and ABC agreed to establish an Alliance to promote safe and healthful working conditions for
employees in the construction industry, particularly hard-to-reach and youth workers.
II. Implementation Team and Contributors:
OSHA and ABC Representatives conducts all required quarterly meeting by both teleconferencing and
formal personal meetings. These meetings were conducted as scheduled on – February 18, 2004; May 14,
2004; August 19, 2004; January 18, 2005; and April 6, 2005

III. Events and Products:
Training and Education FY 2004
- Area Director participated in OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses conducted in Spanish
- 30 OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses conducted by ABC with over 1900 workers trained
- 15 Construction Safety & Health classes conducted in Spanish
Outreach and Communication FY 2004
- Assisted in the distributed of safety and health outreach material developed by OSHA Region IV,
such as the Electrical, Falls, and Struck-By CDs, as well as the Tool Box Review Booklet
- ABC’s Florida East Coast Chapter members were registered for the OSHA Region IV newsletter
Promoting the National Dialogue on Workplace Safety and Health FY 2004
- ABC members participated in the Feria Familiar de Salud y Seguridad, Family Safety & Health Fair,
(March 27, 2004). One of the primary purposes of this event was to promote safety and health in the
Hispanic community.
IV. Results:
Significant achievements in the area of training and education include the accomplishment of 30 -
OSHA 10 and 30 hour courses conducted by ABC, which resulted in over 1900 workers trained. During
this period 15 - Construction Safety & Health classes were conducted in Spanish for workers in the
Hispanic community.
V. Upcoming Milestones:
- Participate in OTI courses conducted by Georgia Tech
- Participate in several of the OSHA 10 hour construction courses conducted by ABC
- Continue to promote safety & health in the construction industry
- Sponsor one of the Construction Executive Seminars in support of the Feria Familiar de Salud y
Seguridad, Family Safety & Health Fair, (June 4, 2005)
- Continue to work with ABC members in support of the Feria Familiar de Salud y Seguridad, Family
Safety & Health Fair, (June 4, 2005)
