    Overview

    The purpose of the Alliance is to provide Tri-State Contractors Association and members with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to OSHA’s four focus hazards.

  2. Implementation Team Meetings

    Several meetings held throughout the year to discuss alliance. Below is a sample:

    November 9, 2007 on-site meeting with Tri-State Executive Director and Administrator, Lynn Wade to discuss training issues.

    February 8, 2008 met with Tri-States administrator, Lynn Wade to discuss information concerning any OSHA changes that affect contractors and their employees training.

    March 11, 2008 Area Director and CAS met with TSCA and KVBA’s Board of Directors. A presentation on the elements of the Alliance and Partnership was made by the CAS. Afterwards, a question and answer forum was held.

    September 25, 2008 met with TSCA administrator, Lynn Wade to discuss alliance report for the one year anniversary of the partnership.

     
  3. Events and Products

    OSHA 10-Hour, OSHA 30-Hour, First Aid/CPR, Drug Awareness Participant Education, Drug Awareness Supervisory Education classes held on a continual basis.

    In an effort to reduce the number of eye and hand injuries, we have provided additional training in eye and hand safety and distributed safety glasses and cut resistant gloves. In addition two pamphlets for distribution to employees and members were developed and printed.

    Outreach and Communication

    Lobbying efforts that ultimately helped pass the WV Alcohol and Drug Free Workplace program.

  5. Upcoming Milestones

    The alliance is planning to work on a new safety product for construction employees working on scaffolds in power plants.
