Property Casualty Insurers Association of American (PCIAA) ANNUAL ALLIANCE REPORT Sept. 22, 2006
I. Alliance Background Overview Signed for two-years, Sept. 22, 2004-Sept. 22, 2006. Provide PCIAA members, as well as small business community with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will address machine, electrical, and fall hazards, and safety and health management systems to small business. Due to organizational changes at PCIAA, shortly after the agreement was signed, Alliance implementation was delayed until October 2005. Implementation Team Members Barbara Bray, Region 3, OSHA; Dale Glacken, Compliance Assistance Specialist, Harrisburg OSHA Area Office; Keith Lessner, Vice President, Loss Control, PCIAA; John Bohn, Home Office Loss Control Specialist, Guard Insurance Group; Scott Patterson, Manager Loss Control, Liberty Mutual; John Orr, Regional Loss Control Specialist, Erie Insurance Evaluation Period Sept. 22, 2005 – Sept. 22, 2006 Implementation Team Meetings   10/14/05 Conference call to discuss small business workshops in context of PCIAA alliance.   10/20/05 Conference call to revise Safety at Work PowerPoint developed by earlier, informal PCIAA/OSHA alliance. Also discussed logistics for a ½ day small business safety and health seminar.   11/8/05 Conference call to revise Safety at Work PowerPoint and review status of arrangements for ½ day small business safety and health seminar.   12/1/05 Conference call to revise Safety at Work PowerPoint and review status of arrangements for ½ day small business safety and health seminar.   12/12/05 Conference call to review tentative agenda for Safety at Work Small Business Seminar scheduled for 1/24/05 in Grantville, PA.   1/13/05 Conference call to finalize arrangements for 1/24/05 Small Business Seminar.   2/11/06 Follow up conference call to review 1/24/05 Small Business Seminar. II. Events and Products Training and Education Safety at Work: Risk Management Techniques for Small Business, Holiday Inn, Grantville, PA January 24, 2006 Products PowerPoint: Safety at Work: Risk Management for Small Business III. Results   Type of Activity (Conference, Training, Print and Electronic Distribution, etc.) Number of Individuals Reached or Trained  ½ Day Seminar based on Safety at Work PowerPoint; Distributed OSHA Small Business CD to attendees 46 TOTAL 46 Over 80% of evaluations indicated that information presented in Jan ’06 Seminar was of practical use in administering safety and health programs. IV. Upcoming Milestones Additional workshops planned for Pennsylvania in 2007.
