IV. Results

Although antecdotal in nature, results of our Alliance activities are as follows:
  • Previous training and outreach efforts have been well received, which has allowed us the opportunity to renew this Alliance.
  • A renewed interest in enhancing safety and health has recently impacted this group through a workplace fatal accident of a business associate, during a pre-bid job assessment. This tragic loss of life has prompted this organization to re-evaluate itself and identify every possible way to improve and modify its safety and health objectives.
  • The employers continue to express that even at the implementation meetings the information that is being shared has been extremely informative and educational, and that they are now much more willing to talk with us and to call the local Area Office(s) with questions to discuss various safety and health issues as they pertain to their respective facilities and/or site programs. In fact, a few of the companies are going to be bringing some of their corporate representatives to future meetings for the opportunity to observe this networking activity.
V. Upcoming Milestones

The Alliance is continuing to look into reaching youth in the community as well as some of the Public Sector employers who are currently not covered by OSHA regulations, however, wish to be compliant in an effort to enhance the department(s) safety. Additionally, certification of company Safety and Health Committees has become a priority for Alliance members.

After a recent planning meeting additional training and outreach topics include: Motor Vehicle (Fleet) Safety Programs, Accident/Incident Investigations, Hexavalent Chromium, and Silica. Efforts will be made to conduct training on issues that had been previously targeted: Powered Industrial Truck, Scaffold Safety and Ladder Safety.

Plans currently are to continue this Alliance.
