The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Occupational Safety and Health Office (OSHO) and the Department of Professional Development and Continued Education of the Professional College of Engineers and Land Surveyors of Puerto Rico (CIAPR, for its Spanish acronym) recognize the value of establishing a collaborative relationship to foster safer and more healthful American workplaces. OSHA, OSHO and the Department of Professional Development and Continued Education of the CIAPR hereby form an Alliance to provide CIAPR members and others with information, guidance, and access to training resources that will help them protect employees’ health and safety, particularly in reducing and preventing exposure to hazards in the construction industry, such as falls, electrical, struck by and caught in between. OSHA, OSHO and the Department of Professional Development and Continued Education of the CIAPR will work together to achieve the following training and education goal:
An implementation team made up of representatives of both organizations will meet to develop a plan of action, determine working procedures, and identify the roles and responsibilities of the participants. In addition, they will meet at least quarterly to track and share information on activities and results in achieving the goals of the Alliance. The members of the team will include the Area Director and Compliance Assistance Specialist from the Puerto Rico Area Office, an OSHO representative from the Divisions of Education and Promotion, and Voluntary Programs; and the Director of the Department of Professional Development and Continued Education of the CIAPR and/or their respective representatives. This agreement will remain in effect for two years. Any signatory may terminate it for any reason at any time, provided they give 30 days written notice. This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of all signatories.
