Milestones Met

September 30, 2003, the Anchorage Area Office conducted a site visit which consisted of 24 hours of classroom training on the Hazardous Materials Course – Emergency Response tailored to the fish processors. Attendees include fishing vessel owners.

Developed training on marine oil spill response for the Ship Escort Response Vessel System (SERVS) – a response organization for Prince Willliam Sound.

Upcoming Milestones

OSHA and SERVS will work together to achieve outreach and communication goals.

Develop and disseminate information through print and electronic media, including electronic tools and links from OSHA’s and SERVS websites.

Speak, exhibit or appear at SERVS conferences, local meetings or other safety/training events.

Cross-train OSHA personnel and industry safety and health professionals in SERVS best practices and effective approaches, as jointly determined by OSHA and SERVS.

The Anchorage Area Office will participate in the next spill response drill in March. It will last two weeks in South Central Alaska.
