I. Alliance Background Date Signed: September 9 - 2002 Overview: This alliance is an activity of the Providence Area Office (PAO) with several organizations in Rhode Island involved with occupational safety and health. The intent of the alliance is to facilitate education and outreach to the community by sharing resources of the members of the coalition. The group also helps its members know the occupational health and safety issues in Rhode Island. In addition, the members are able to inform each other about their activities so that the occupational safety and health players in Rhode Island know what events and opportunities are available in the state. Implementation Team Meetings 10/30/03- meeting held at the Occupational and Environmental Health Center of RI 2/24/04 - meeting held at the Occupational and Environmental Health Center of RI 3/25/04- meeting held at the Occupational and Environmental Health Center of RI 4/29/04 - meeting held at the Occupational and Environmental Health Center of RI 5/20/04 - meeting held at the Occupational and Environmental Health Center of RI 7/1/04 - coalition meeting held. Guest speaker-- III. Events and Products Training and Education 10/9/03- safe work/safe workers training held for teachers—2 sessions/25 attendees 7/1/04 – Daniel Berman from Federal Highway (RI) spoke to coalition members on traffic safety issues. Outreach and Communication 4/1/04 - EA/FP info sheet and new coalition booklet including ASSE distributed to members IV. Results
V. Upcoming Milestones The alliance will continue for another year. The group will focus on three projects: 1. additional emergency action/fire prevention fact sheets with an emphasis on RI changes to fire code; 2. List of H & S resources for small business; 3. Traffic safety project. |
