AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING AN ALLIANCE
AMONG
RHODE ISLAND ORGANIZATIONS
INVOLVED IN OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH
September 2002
Several organizations in Rhode Island are involved in occupational safety and health. These organizations
believe that they can better meet customer needs and improve occupational safety and health by forming an
alliance, the RIght Safe Coalition. The RIght Safe Coalition exists to encourage and facilitate the efforts of
Rhode Island employers and employees to save lives, prevent injuries, and protect health in the workplace.
Member organizations include:
Associations:
Rhode Island Association of Occupational Health Nurses
Safety Association of Rhode Island
Workers’ Compensation Association of Rhode Island Employers
Non-Profit Organizations:
Rhode Island Committee on Occupational Safety and Health
The Beacon Mutual Insurance Company
The Occupational & Environmental Health Center of Rhode Island
Worksite Wellness Council of Rhode Island
Academia
Institute for Labor Studies and Research
Roger Williams University, Program in Occupational Safety and Health
Government:
Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, Workers’ Compensation Education Unit
Rhode Island Department of Labor and Training, Division of Occupational Safety, Safety Compliance Unit
Rhode Island Department of Health, Office of Occupational and Radiological Health (OSHA 21(d) Consultation Program)
United States Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration
The members of the coalition agree to use their collective expertise to help foster a culture of prevention by:
- Establishing lines of communication between member organizations so that outreach resources may
be used efficiently and members may be informed about one another’s occupational safety and
health outreach and emphasis programs.
- Working together to provide a forum in which safety and health professionals from labor, industry,
academia, and government can identify significant workplace hazards in Rhode Island and fashion
well-designed and coordinated programs to minimize the risk of those hazards.
The Right Safe Coalition will meet at least nine times per year to discuss current safety and health issues, projects
and member activities. This document will remain in effect until such time that the members wish to modify or
disband the group. New members may be considered for membership at any time.
The undersigned agree to establish the RIght Safe Coalition:
