AGREEMENT ESTABLISHING AN ALLIANCE
BETWEEN
THE OCCUPATIONAL SAFETY AND HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
AND
THE FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION
U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) recognize a mutual interest in encouraging the growth and development of a robust and well0trained transportation construction and engineering workforce for the future. OSHA and FHWA therefore agree to form an Alliance to provide an integrated and positive safety and health component for the FHWA's Construction Career Days program.

OSHA and FHWA will work together to achieve the following goals:
  • To improve communications, ensuring a continuing dialog between the two agencies, informing each other of activities that would prove beneficial, as well as sharing publications and technical expertise;
  • To cooperate in workforce development activities and foster an interest in career opportunities in the construction industry by promoting, participating in, and supporting the Construction Career Days program;
  • To promote safety and health as a core value in the construction industry through an active OSHA role in the planning and conduct of Construction Career Day events;
  • To introduce students to safety and health as an important workplace factor by assisting the "Construction Career Day Committee in its presentations to local schools;
  • To provide a memorable safety and health learning experience for students by having OSHA conduct an active, hands-on, Construction Career Days event.
This agreement may be modified at any time with the concurrence of all signatories and any signatory may terminate the alliance for any reason at any time with 30 days written notice.
