OSHA/The Dow Chemical Company
Workshop, "OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard: The Dow Approach"
October 13-14, 2004
The Dow Chemical Company’s Louisiana Operations, Plaquemine, Louisiana |
Approximately 16 OSHA staff from the National Office, Regions IV and VI, and North Carolina,
as State Plan State, attended the two-day seminar, which included time for attendees to tour Dow’s
facility. "We were extremely pleased to be able to host the OSHA Process Safety Management Workshop
in Plaquemine," said Lee Trusty, Dow site leader of Louisiana Operations. "Dow and OSHA both have
the same vision for an injury- and incident-free workplace."
"The workshop provides an excellent opportunity not only to share programs and practices but to
receive immediate feedback from OSHA," said Trusty. "It helps us understand each other's perspective
on chemical process safety in the industry." With the success of the workshop, the Alliance is
considering developing a case study or eTool that would be based on the workshop materials and
available to the public on the OSHA Website.
