Foundry Best Practices Seminar
April 21-22, 2009

Navistar International
Waukesha, Wisconsin

April 21-22, 2009: Metal molding and core making process hazards were among topics presented to government representatives at the "Foundry Best Practices" seminar at the Navistar International foundry in Waukesha, Wisconsin.

More than 20 OSHA Region V staff were provided with information on safe work practices in a metal casting foundry, and control measures that could be taken by a facility to protect the safety and health of employees. In addition, the attendees were given a tour of the Navistar International foundry to observe the safe work practices that the foundry has put into place.

Presentations at the seminar included metal pattern shop hazards, metal molding and core making process hazards, and metal cleaning and finishing hazards. For more information, see the September 2009 Alliance Quarterly Review story.
