Assistant Secretary Dr. David Michaels (front row, second from left) participated in, along with Assistant Secretary of Labor for Mine Safety and Health Joe Main (front row, third from left), The First U.S.-China Workplace Safety and Health Dialogue Nov. 14, 2012, in Beijing, China. Dr. Michaels spoke about the importance of understanding and shaping modern worker safety and health programs in the United States and China, and their added benefits to trade and economic growth. He also discussed the potential of injury and illness prevention programs, scientific studies that show enforcement reduces injuries and saves businesses money, and training programs for workers and employers.
