Prepration Hood

Any sample prepared using THF MUST BE PREPARED in the confines of an exhaust hood. Note the ultrasonic bath in the right hand corner and the intrinsically-safe hot plate in front of the bath. Samples are taken from the bath and transferred to silver membrane filters via filtration using glass chimney (funnel - note the assembled blue clamp and glass funnel), a filtration base, and vacuum. The silver membrane filter is placed under the glass chimney and separates the particulate from the THF. Note the Dewar in the left hand corner containing liquid nitrogen and a cold trap for the vacuum system. This allows any THF to be trapped in the cold trap and avoids any potential for suction into the vacuum pump.
