The performance (using precision data) of the three top techniques indicates
that the coefficient of variation has only recently dropped. The slide shows the
worst case scenario as results are only for those samples with the lowest
loading (weights). Results for all sample loadings display better (lower)
coefficients of variation. The first rounds indicate great disagreement among
the participating labs, coefficients of variation ranged from 0.5 to 0.8.
Remember that only the colorimetric procedure was used up to Round 30; however,
the trend towards increased precision over time was not primarily due to
decreased use but rather improved analytical technique. Again, this graph only
displays results for samples which were the most difficult to analyze because of
low sample loadings.
