How Many Peaks are Used for XRD

An advantage of XRD analysis is that x-rays are diffracted by silica at different angles characteristic of silica species. In addition, to a primary diffraction angle (peak), several other characteristic peaks are also produced, though they are not as intense. The use of these other peaks allows an analyst to confirm that the primary peak is actually produced by silica and not by an interference.
