Due to the hazardous work in the shipyard, first aid resources must be available. [1915.98] First aid kit

First Aid
Potential Hazards:

Injuries to workers may worsen due to inadequate or delayed access to medial treatment.

Requirements and Example Solutions:
  • If a first aid room and a qualified attendant are not close at hand, an adequate first aid kit and a qualified person to administer first aid must be available on the vessel. [1915.98(a) and (b)]
  • A stokes basket or equivalent must be available when there are 10 or more employees working. [1915.98(d)]
